ABOUT WINE REGION
This region, also known as the Black Sea Coast, produces nearly one third of all Bulgarian wines. There are three sub-regions: the Black Sea Coastal region, Drobuja, and Ludogorie (known for its wild forests) in the northeast. A mild climate and long, warm autumns favour the cultivation of a great variety of (mainly) white grapes, as they develop the perfect amount of sugar.
The Ludogorie, “region of mad forests”, is hilly in the east but merges with the plains of Dobruja and the Danube to the north. Major cities in the region are Razgrad, Novi Pazar, Pliska and Isperih. The town of Isperih is situated in the north-eastern part of Bulgaria, 85 km east of the city of Ruse, and 145 km north-west of the city of Varna. There is an excellent historical museum which presents periods from ancient time to the present day with the help of archaeological and ethnographic materials, documents, pictures and personal belongings. Southern Dobruja, or South Dobruja, is an area of north-eastern Bulgaria comprising the administrative districts and two principal cities of Dobrich and Silistra, a city located on the Danube.
About Destination
In addition to the historical museum, we suggest you visit the Tomb of Demir Baba, the Kamen Rid and the most significant find in the territory of the historical and archaeological reservation of Sboryanovo (the western part of the Ludogorsko Plateau), the Sveshtarska Thracian Royal Tomb. Due to its remarkable architecture and its artistic decoration, the Sveshtarska tomb was included on the UNESCO list of global cultural inheritance of 1985. The Abritus Archaeological Reserve is located 2 km east of Razgrad, near the Ruse–Varna main road. The reserve spreads out over an area of 1,000 decares and preserves the remains of the Roman town of Abritus. Abritus was established at the end of the 1st century AD as a Roman military camp built on the ruins of an ancient Thracian settlement and grew to become one of the biggest urban centres in Moesia Inferior, a Roman province that was situated in the northern part of modern-day Bulgaria. Old Dobrich Architectural-Ethnographic Museum is an open-air museum where the traditional crafts of the Dobrudzha Region from the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century are preserved, exhibited and practised.

The closest airports are located in Bucharest, Varna, Sofia, Burgas, Plovdiv.
Railway network connects Ruse with major Bulgarian cities and cross-border cities, such as: Bucharest, Sofia, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo.
The city is located 200 km from Varna and 300 km from Sofia. It is connected with Romania, via bridge and neighbouring city Giurgiu, making it easy to access if you fly to Bucharest.
Ruse is also located on the EuroVelo 6 international cycling route.
