About Destination

Constanta is a city that combines millennial history with modernism. It is a city that celebrates multi-culturalism, where the East meets and blends with the West to generate a spectacular and lively spirit. Tourists can discover the Museum of Art, the Folk Art Museum, the National Museum of History and Archaeology, the National Military Museum, the Museum of Natural Sciences, the Dolphinarium and the Romanian Navy Museum.

Regional attractions include traditional villages, vineyards, ancient monuments and the Danube Delta, the best-preserved delta in Europe. Mamaia is the largest and best-known resort of the Romanian Riviera. The resort is northeast of Constanta city centre and borders Ovidiu Lake and the Black Sea. You also can discover Cheile Dobrogei (Dobrogea Gorges), a protected avifaunistic area. Vegetation in the field provides food and nesting conditions for migratory birds and a variety of protected bird species. These birds include the kingfisher, the short-legged hawk and the red-breasted goose. Movile Cave is unique in the world because of its ecosystem, one that does not depend on sunlight or oxygen to survive. In the cave, 33 new species of microorganisms and invertebrates have been discovered, including three species of scorpion and a centipede with a maximum length of 10 cm whose bite is venomous. The reservation of marine dunes in Agigea in Constanta County is an area protected by law because it is the only area of such dunes on the Romanian coast of the Black Sea territory. These dunes were formed from sand carried on the wind from the nearby bay. These dunes are home to rare plant species specific to sandy environments.
