Sremska Mitrovica, a city with a long and remarkable history, located along one of the most beautiful embankments of the Sava River in northwest Serbia.

Evidence of the long continuity of urban life in Sremska Mitrovica can be found and seen throughout the city. The local Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Sremska Mitrovica has 215 immovable cultural goods in its jurisdiction, of which 154 are categorized as cultural goods of exceptional importance.

The Museum of Srem exhibits rare artifacts, especially those from the period of the Roman Empire, and is one of the most significant institutions of its kind in Serbia.

Take a walk across the longest pedestrian river bridge in both Serbia and the Balkans. The panoramic view from the bridge provides a perfect insight into various cultural and historical layers of the city, today characterized by the Baroque towers of two Orthodox and one Roman Catholic church.

The City Park is, for sure, a favorite gathering place for the residents of Sremska Mitrovica. This charming English style urban garden, with the fountain in the shape of a stone flower in its center, is an ideal place to experience the city vibes. A variety of important public institutions and cultural monuments are situated around the park, making them easy to find and visit.

The nearby Zasavica Special Nature Reserve allows visitors to step into the preserved landscapes of floodplain meadows and marsh forests and experience a large number of bird species and other animals.

From Belgrade via the only double track railway in Serbia; from Novi Sad, capital of the Vojvodina province (60 km)

From Belgrade via the E-70 highway (75 km); from the Republic of Croatia (border is about 40 km away) via Ilok Route 314 (42km).
