About Destination

Vid is an exciting hilly village in the vicinity of the river Neretva delta, with a wetland and the nearby town of Metković, also an enjoyable place to visit.  Vid is located only 30 kilometers from the rich district of Ploce, with its famous Old Port on the Adriatic Sea. Vid is also only 35 kilometers from Neum, a small town with a mild Mediterranean climate that has steep hills and pebble beaches.

A walk around Metković will take you to the Natural History Museum, the main attraction of the city. The ruins of the Roman city of Narona are located in the modern-day town of Vid, 4km northwest of Metković, where the Narona Archaeological Museum was built as the first “in situ” museum in Croatia. When you are in Vid, it is especially impressive to walk through the narrow stone streets and to see the numerous stone houses and taverns (family wine cellars) that are lined up around the ancient town square.

Cruising in an ancient Neretvan boat through the meandering rivulets and canals in the Neretva valley, one can enjoy the clear waters of the Norin, a tributary of the Neretva, and take pleasure in the many islets, with their abundant flora and fauna.
